The story behind the character
听
The traditional 聽 is 耳 (ear) plus 王 and 德. Receive what is good through the ear. That's listening. Xu Shen wrote 听, 聆也. The simplified 听 is actually a different character merged in, but the core never changed: use your ears, and actually pay attention.
