穿
穴, a cave or a hole, on top, with 牙, a tooth, below. Xu Shen wrote 穿, 通也, and spelled out the picture in three words: 从牙在穴中. A tooth boring through a hole. That is the whole meaning, to pierce, to go through. 穿衣服 is the same idea, because you push your arm through a sleeve. 穿过马路, 穿鞋, 看穿.
