On Saturday Xiao Zhang and I went to see a movie.

That afternoon I was really busy.

By the time I arrived, the movie had already started.

The person by the door said: you can't go in now.
wǒ我gěi给xiǎo小zhāng张dǎ打diàn电huà话，dàn但shì是tā他méi没yǒu有tīng听。
I called Xiao Zhang, but he didn't pick up.
wǒ我zài在mén门páng旁biān边děng等le了èr二shí十fēn分zhōng钟。
I waited by the door for twenty minutes.
xiǎo小zhāng张chū出lái来de的shí时hou候，xiào笑le了yī一xià下。
When Xiao Zhang came out, he was smiling.

He said: the movie is really good, but you didn't get to see it.

I wasn't happy, because I'd really wanted to see it.
xiǎo小zhāng张shuō说：duì对bu不qǐ起，wǒ我men们zài再mǎi买míng明tiān天de的piào票ba吧。
Xiao Zhang said: sorry — let's buy tickets for tomorrow instead.
míng明tiān天de的piào票pián便yi宜yì一diǎn点ér儿，wǒ我men们dōu都kě可yǐ以lái来。
Tomorrow's tickets are a bit cheaper and we can both make it.
míng明tiān天xià下wǔ午wǒ我men们sān三diǎn点jiù就dào到le了。
The next afternoon we were there at three o'clock sharp.
diàn电yǐng影kāi开shǐ始de的shí时hou候，wǒ我men们yǐ已jīng经zuò坐hǎo好le了。
By the time the movie started we were already sitting down.

The film is about a boy and a girl.

When the movie finished we went to a restaurant for noodles.
xiǎo小zhāng张shuō说：xià下cì次wǒ我men们yì一qǐ起qù去，hǎo好ma吗？
Xiao Zhang said: let's go together again next time, okay?
wǒ我shuō说：hǎo好，dàn但shì是nǐ你yào要děng等wǒ我。
I said: fine — but you have to wait for me.
