Last month a new classmate came to our school.
tā他jiào叫wáng王xiǎo小yǔ雨，cóng从běi北jīng京lái来。
His name is Wang Xiaoyu, and he's from Beijing.
tā他de的hàn汉yǔ语fēi非cháng常hǎo好，dàn但shì是tā他bù不rèn认shi识wǒ我men们。
His Chinese is excellent, but he didn't know any of us.
tā他dì第yī一cì次lái来jiào教shì室de的shí时hou候，méi没yǒu有shuō说huà话，jiù就zuò坐zài在wǒ我páng旁biān边。
The first time he came into the classroom he didn't say a word, just sat next to me.

I asked him: what's your name?
tā他xiào笑le了yī一xià下，shuō说le了tā他de的míng名zi字。
He smiled and told me his name.
kāi开shǐ始de的shí时hou候，tā他méi没yǒu有péng朋you友，měi每gè个zǎo早shàng上dōu都bù不gāo高xìng兴。
At first he had no friends, and he was unhappy every morning.

Because he was new, and didn't know anything.

We studied together and ate together.
wǒ我bāng帮zhù助tā他zhǎo找jiào教shì室，yě也bāng帮zhù助tā他rèn认shi识xīn新péng朋you友。
I helped him find the classroom, and helped him meet new friends.
yǒu有yī一cì次tā他shēng生bìng病le了，wǒ我sòng送tā他qù去yī医yuàn院。
Once he got sick, and I took him to the hospital.
yī医yuàn院lǐ里de的yī医shēng生shuō说，méi没yǒu有dà大wèn问tí题，chī吃yī一xiē些yào药jiù就hǎo好le了。
The doctor said there was nothing serious — some medicine and he'd be fine.
wǒ我zài在tā他páng旁biān边zuò坐le了sān三gè个xiǎo小shí时。
I sat beside him for three hours.
wǒ我men们jiù就shì是hǎo好péng朋you友le了。
After that we were good friends.
shàng上gè个xīng星qī期wǒ我men们xué学xiào校yǒu有yí一gè个kǎo考shì试。
Last week our school had an exam.
tā他xiě写dé得fēi非cháng常kuài快，yě也fēi非cháng常hǎo好。
He wrote it very fast, and very well.
tā他shuō说：xiè谢xie谢nǐ你bāng帮zhù助wǒ我。
He said: thank you for helping me.
wǒ我shuō说：bú不kè客qi气，wǒ我men们shì是tóng同xué学。
I said: you're welcome — we're classmates.
xiàn现zài在tā他yě也bāng帮zhù助xīn新lái来de的tóng同xué学le了。
Now he helps the new classmates too.
