2027: the Ox
2027 is 丁未 dīng wèi, the Fire Goat. If you were born in a ox year, here is the traditional reading — and the part that is not folklore at all, the character itself.
| Lunar new year begins | February 6, 2027 |
| Year name | 丁未 dīng wèi — the Fire Goat |
| Runs until | January 26, 2028 |
| Your animal | 牛 Ox — Clash · 冲 |
The character 牛
The oracle-bone 牛 is a bull's head seen from the front — the two horns curving up and out are the most recognisable part, and they're still visible in the modern character.
That is the honest core of this page. Whatever you decide about the astrology, 牛 is a real object with a real history, and it has been drawn more or less the same way for three thousand years.
Ox and Goat in 2027
冲 — Clash
冲 (Clash) — The ox sits directly opposite the goat on the dial — 丑未冲, the classic clash.
What this page is: 合冲害 is a traditional Chinese way of talking about relationships between the twelve signs. It is folklore, not prediction — treat it the way you would treat a horoscope column. The part of this page you can actually learn something from is the character.
Years of the Ox
The ox returns every twelve years. Recent ones:
2021 · 2009 · 1997 · 1985 · 1973 · 1961 · 1949 · 1937
Every one of these is a lunar year, beginning at Chinese New Year rather than January 1. If you were born in January or early February, your animal is usually the previous year's — the zodiac finder handles those edge cases.
