2027: the Rat
2027 is 丁未 dīng wèi, the Fire Goat. If you were born in a rat year, here is the traditional reading — and the part that is not folklore at all, the character itself.
| Lunar new year begins | February 6, 2027 |
| Year name | 丁未 dīng wèi — the Fire Goat |
| Runs until | January 26, 2028 |
| Your animal | 鼠 Rat — Friction · 害 |
The character 鼠
On oracle bones, 鼠 was drawn as a rat seen from above — a pointed snout, a long tail, and small clawed feet. The modern character keeps the same parts stacked vertically: the snout up top, the body and tail below.
That is the honest core of this page. Whatever you decide about the astrology, 鼠 is a real object with a real history, and it has been drawn more or less the same way for three thousand years.

害 — Harm
害 (Harm) — The rat and the goat are 相害, a quieter friction than a clash but still on the traditional watch list.
What this page is: 合冲害 is a traditional Chinese way of talking about relationships between the twelve signs. It is folklore, not prediction — treat it the way you would treat a horoscope column. The part of this page you can actually learn something from is the character.
Years of the Rat
The rat returns every twelve years. Recent ones:
2020 · 2008 · 1996 · 1984 · 1972 · 1960 · 1948 · 1936
Every one of these is a lunar year, beginning at Chinese New Year rather than January 1. If you were born in January or early February, your animal is usually the previous year's — the zodiac finder handles those edge cases.
