The story behind the character
路
路 is 足 (foot) on the left with 各 on the right giving the sound. Xu Shen wrote 路，道也. A road. Foot on one side, sound on the other, and the meaning is exactly what it looks like. Nothing hidden here. A road is the thing your feet do.
